Who We Are

Boy meets girl, east coast and west coast, small town and big city, technical and creative, all opposites that have combined for the benefit of something much greater: A marriage, a family, a home and a business...passionate about it all, meet us!

I grew up in Goldsboro, a small town in Eastern North Carolina, prior to meeting Lisa. Growing up playing sports, I was always one to record special moments through pictures. It was not a hard decision to pursue my intrigue and love of photography. I continued to further my knowledge of the art...becoming the technical side of the business.

I grew up in Tigard, OR, a suburb south of Portland. As the oldest of three sisters, I was lucky to grow up in a family filled with creative talent. I gravitated towards anything related to graphic arts and took advantage of having an eye for detail and design. Whether hand-painting a child's room, scrapbooking, or designing print ads or web graphics, creativity has come easily. I have continued to fine-tune my style through education and studying design trends...becoming the creative side of the business.

The concept of Darren J. Thompson Photography was born in late 2002 when we first met. As fate would have it, 'the meeting' took place when Darren was on a business trip in Portland that almost didn’t happen. Months later, Lisa made the cross country move to Fayetteville, NC and July 3, 2004 was 'the marriage!' The jump into professional photography began in August 2006.

We have three children, Ragan, Tate, and Landen whom we love to photograph. We know how precious each moment is and how important it is to treasure each second possible...we are lucky to be able to do it through photographs. Having our office at home is how we can best balance family life, work, and activities and each of our clients is welcome here...Let's do lunch or even better, coffee (Lisa's Northwest habit of Starbucks was contagious) to find out if we are a fit for your special moments. We look forward to working with you.
